energy@Web-API-Services – Your New Service for Suppliers and Network Operators
Starting June 6, 2025, it gets serious: The new regulation from the German Federal Network Agency (dt. Bundesnetzagentur) requires supplier switches to be completed within just 24 hours and ensures the secure transmission of switching commands according §14a EnWG. Clear guidelines for suppliers and network operators have been defined for this purpose (BK6-22-024 & BK6-22-128).
This groundbreaking change offers numerous opportunities for increased efficiency and modernization but also presents challenges for suppliers and network operators.
To meet the new requirements, processes and IT systems must be adapted not only quickly but also securely. Compliance with the highest security standards in accordance with the Certificate Policy of the Smart Metering PKI is paramount. With our new energy@Web-API-Services, we support you in making your systems future-ready – efficiently, securely, and reliably.
Easy & Future-Proof: Securely Transmit MaLo-ID and Directory Service Queries as well as Switching Commands
In collaboration with the IT security expert and infrastructure service provider DARZ, we present a powerful service based on the new BDEW Web-API. This innovative service not only facilitates MaLo-ID queries within the framework of the 24-hour change of supplier but offers much more: suppliers and network operators can securely and in compliance with regulations transmit switching commands to the responsible metering point operator.
Existing applications, such as ERP systems for supplier switching or network control center applications, can be seamlessly integrated with the energy@Web-API-Services via a simple interface, regardless of their infrastructure. These services are hosted in DARZ’s multiple-certified data center in Germany, ensuring unparalleled flexibility and security in a future-oriented solution that significantly streamlines your workflow.
Furthermore, this service ensures the timely and reliable implementation of all new requirements, including the necessary cryptographic operations. We ensure that MaLo-ID retrieval is fully compliant with BDEW and SM-PKI standards. Similarly, suppliers and network operators can reliably transmit their switching commands to the responsible MSB in compliance with the guidelines of the universal processes (BK6-22-128) – an essential prerequisite for the fast and regulation-compliant implementation of the new requirements.
Another advantage: According to the BK6-22-128 determination by the Federal Network Agency, a directory service has been introduced to enable the automated exchange of communication parameters between market participants in the energy sector. With the energy@Web-API-Services, suppliers and network operators benefit from a fast, simple, and secure way to automate directory service queries. Leverage a solution that provides you with maximum efficiency and security.
DARZ.CA: Quick and Easy Access to the Right Certificates
To use the BDEW Web-API, all market participants require valid EMT.API certificates issued by an authorized Sub-Certification Authority (Sub-CA). These certificates ensure secure, encrypted communication and reliable authentication – essential for meeting the new requirements.
With the DARZ.CA, a certified Sub-CA of the Smart Meter PKI in compliance with BSI TR-03145, you get the exact certificates needed for the 24-hour supplier switch and the secure transmission of switching commands to the metering point operator. Our solutions perfectly align with the energy@Web-API-Services, enabling you to integrate your processes seamlessly and efficiently. Rely on a solution that combines security, reliability, and smooth functionality.
